Celia Cruz in Miami, Miami Events and Happenings

At the Miami Carnival Center in Downtown Miami, ¡Azucar! Cuban legend and global icon Celia Cruz is currently presenting an explosive new musical.

Presenting a hit parade of her greatest songs, Celia takes you on an amazing 60-year musical journey through the life and music of the sensational salsa diva, from her humble beginnings in Cuba to the international superstardom that made her one of the most remarkable Hispanic artists who has ever lived.



Already a main hit in New York, Celia's company of 16 singers, dancers and musicians are in Miami Florida to opening their international tour. Told through the eyes of Celia's beloved husband, Pedro Knight, Celia reincarnates as the magnificent star acclaimed by many.

This event in Miami will take place from June 18th, to July 6th, 2008.

Tickets are available at www.carnivalcenter.org. General admission starts at $50. There is a VIP ticket available for $95. The parking at the venue is restricted, so you can reserve your parking for an extra $15 when you buy your tickets.

Keep in mind when purchasing your tickets that some performances are in English and some in Spanish.

Miami Summer Shorts Festival, Events in Miami

Miami Summer Shorts Festival is currently in Miami providing two amazing events in Miami and an amusing season. Miami Summer Shorts is running since May 29th till June 22nd, 2008. This is a Miami event you should not miss!

City Theatre is in charge of producing this popular summer event in Miami. In 2008, they receive over 1,200 season script submissions and selected the most thrilling and humorous shorts for you to enjoy.

This Miami event will be showcasing two festivals in one, The Miami Summer Shorts Festival and Shorts 4 Kids. Besides, Miami Summer Shorts Festival 2008, for adults, is going to be featuring two main categories Signature Shorts and Under Shorts.

• Signature Shorts displays s a brand new combination of hilarious comedies and sincere dramas in two alternating programs. Signature Shorts are the first version and most emblematic ones of the festival. Miami Summer Shorts Festival’s shorts typically consist of a one-act play running from 5, to 20 minutes.
• Under Shorts is a completely new late night series of short plays that are provocative, irreverent and very funny. This is the most adult version of the event. Be aware that it is not recommended for kids.
• Short 4 Kids is the children’s version of Miami Summer Shorts Festival. Shorts 4 Kids guarantees lots of good diversion for families, but particularly for the little ones.

Popular venues around Miami will be part of this event, including Miami Carnival Center for the Performing Arts and Broward Center of the Performing Arts.

Miami Sony's Foam City Ad, Downtown Miami

The world's largest foam machine was custom-built for the shoot, and pumped out over 500,000 gallons of foam per minute. In the video below, you can see by yourself the magnitude of this ad. There is also several photos posted on the Sony’s official website.

The Sony's Foam City ad, features Downtown Miami as a star. Downtown Miami was covered with 120 million gallons of bubbles.

The scene was a popular department stored located on one of the main streets of Downtown Miami. Just a view of the peculiar ad and, of course, our fabulous city.

Upcoming Miami Concerts, Miami Events - The Cure & Cindy Lauper

A Miami concert no music lover should miss! The Cure is one of the most regarded of all times. The band has been together since 1976, so their history and songs' repertoire are pretty amazing. The Cure went back to the studio, in Spring 2007, and released a new CD with more than 33 songs. They are coming to Miami Florida this June with their new tour.
